Reaching 100% completion in GTA V means ticking off the 161 entries of the in-game / Social Club completion checklist, split into five categories with fixed shares of the total:
- Missions (55%): every story mission including Lester's five assassinations. For each heist only the approach you pick counts, and any one of the three final missions completes the story.
- Hobbies and Pastimes (10%): 42 entries (Flight School, Shooting Range, races, Triathlons, parachute jumps, golf, tennis, darts, strip club).
- Strangers and Freaks (10%): 20 entries, all of them Franklin's. Michael's and Trevor's Strangers and Freaks do not count.
- Random Events (5%): any 14 random events.
- Miscellaneous (20%): 16 entries (five properties, 25 stunt jumps, 25 Under the Bridge and 8 Knife Flight challenges, spaceship parts, letter scraps, friend activities and more).
Not every activity in the game is required (gold medals, other collectibles, hunting, yoga or the stock market are not), and anything left unfinished can still be completed after the main story.
Completing the game to 100% unlocks several rewards:
- An orange 100% T-shirt for Franklin.
- Franklin's "The Last One" Strangers and Freaks mission.
- UFOs above Mount Chiliad, Fort Zancudo and Sandy Shores.
- The Career Criminal achievement/trophy.
Content added in the Enhanced version (Peyote Plants, Monkey Mosaics, Murder Mystery, Wildlife Photography, Stock Car races and three new random events) does not count toward 100%. In the Enhanced version, completing "The Last One" and collecting all 27 regular Peyote Plants unlocks the golden Peyote Plant, leading to the Sasquatch and Beast challenge.
