This page explains what data GTA Maps stores and processes when you use the site, and the choices you have. The short version: an essential cookie when you sign in, progress data that stays in your browser, advertising served by Google under the consent you give in the consent dialog, and cookie-free visitor statistics.
Cookies and similar storage
Sign-in session (necessary). When you sign in, a session cookie keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the sign-in feature and is only set when you use it.
Map progress, custom markers and preferences (local browser storage). Which markers you hide or check off, your own pins and any coordinate data you paste into the Data viewer, and small display preferences such as your search mode, are kept in your browser's local storage. They are created when you use those features and are not sent to us unless you are signed in, in which case completion progress, your pins and your pasted coordinate data are saved to your account so they follow you across devices.
Advertising
We show ads from Google AdSense to fund the site. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a consent dialog asks for your choice before ads are shown. If you consent, Google and the ad partners listed in the dialog may store and read cookies to personalise and measure ads. If you do not consent, non-personalised "limited ads" are shown without ad cookies.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the "Consent" link in the footer. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Manage Google-wide ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
US state privacy rights
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for personalised advertising. For visitors from applicable states, the "Consent" link in the footer opens the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" choice; opting out restricts how Google processes your data for ads on this site.
Analytics
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are used and how fast they load. It uses no cookies, no local storage and no fingerprinting, and it does not identify you, so it runs without a consent dialog and has no opt-out. The page you view, the page you came from, your browser type and loading times are sent to Cloudflare; Cloudflare derives a country from your IP address and does not store the address.
Accounts
Signing in uses Discord. We store the email address associated with your Discord account to identify your account, plus the progress and custom marker data described above. We do not sell or share account data.
Embedded content
Some map entries embed YouTube videos. Videos load only after you tap play, and use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which does not store tracking cookies for personalisation.
Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes every request, including your IP address, to route traffic and to protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie when its bot protection runs. Like almost every website, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested page, time) for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights and contact
Under the GDPR you can request access to or deletion of your account data. The quickest way to reach us is our Discord.
